This offering delves into the deeper spiritual and theological dimensions of being a Shia of the Imam (aj), exploring the relationship between a believer and the Imam (aj), as well as the profound impact of loving the Imam (aj). It aims to provide clarity on what it means to truly be part of the Imam’s (aj) community, shedding light on the Imam’s (aj) attitude toward his followers, and how that relationship shapes one’s identity and spiritual journey. Through this offering, the participants will examine foundational beliefs, the role of the Imam (aj) in guiding the faithful, and the significance of love and loyalty toward the Imam (aj) in the Shia tradition.

By engaging with this offering, students will gain a deeper understanding of the responsibilities and privileges that come with being a Shia of the Imam (aj). They will learn how love for the Imam (aj) fosters a unique connection that leads to spiritual growth, divine mercy, and protection. The offering will also highlight key teachings of the Imam (aj), illustrating how these shape a believer’s actions, worldview, and character. Ultimately, students will reflect on the outcomes of such love, including personal transformation and a closer relationship with the Divine, grounded in the teachings and example of the Imam (aj).

This offering is for women aged 18 and above who seek to deepen their spiritual connection with the Imam (aj). It is designed for those looking to strengthen their faith, explore Shia teachings, and cultivate a closer relationship with the Imam (aj) in their spiritual journey. 

Elweya Israa Safieddine is a teacher and educational consultant from Michigan who specializes in Islamic instruction and educational training. A graduate of the University of Michigan, she earned an MA in public administration with a focus in assessment and evaluation. She also studied at Jami`at al-Zahra in Qom, as well as al-Qaem Institute in the US. Between 2016 and 2018, she taught theology at the Hawza Ilmiyya of England. She is a founding member and an instructor for Workshops for Islamic Educators (WIE), as well as the interfaith coordinator for Risalat International Institute. In the summer of 2022, she co-founded the Oasis Institute for Outreach & Education, an initiative dedicated to meeting increasing demands for Islamic programs and courses (edoasis.org).
